by Janette Kennedy, MAEd I painted this picture when I was expecting my daughter. There are cute little footprints coming out of the river, and my hope of seeing her summit her dreams. Most of the picture, though, is the cover of the jungle: the insects and upturned leaves that hide the unknown that she will travel through in this life. As parents, one of our most important jobs is preparing our kids to navigate a world we can’t always see, and sometimes, one that we struggle ourselves to make sense of. Already, her world is so different than mine.

After an incredible 2016, we are really looking forward to 2017! FAAM kicked off the year with a community meeting on February 21st. Our medical advisor, Dr. Jay Lieberman, shared the latest research on Early Introduction to Foods.
by Kelley Barnett, FAAM Founder & Coordinator Thank you so much to everyone who attended our first meeting on Mon., Feb. 8th at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett. It was great to be with other food allergy individuals and families who were excited to learn more and support each other. It makes me even more excited for what 2016 has in store for FAAM and its members! To prevent leaving someone out who helped, I will not list names, but you know who you are. THANK YOU for all you did, and will continue to do, for our food allergy community.
by Kelley Barnett, FAAM Founder & Coordinator I remember taking a computer science class in high school and learning programming language basics. One of the first assignments was to write code for the sentence, "Hello world." I remember wondering why we couldn't write our own sentence, something cool like "Kelley wuz hea", or whatever silliness teenagers wrote back in the day. It's not like anyone else even saw it. However, today it's a very fitting sentence. Hello world. This is my introduction to the public via Food for Thought, FAAM's blog that I hope will greet and support many people in our food allergy world.
