We are dedicated to service in our local community!

​The Food Allergy Alliance of the MidSouth's mission is to provide food allergy support, education, advocacy & fellowship in Memphis, TN and surrounding areas to increase awareness and encourage individuals and families managing food allergies.
FAAM is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To support our mission, services include: 
  • Connecting newly diagnosed individuals & families with helpful resources
  • Educational meetings for those managing food allergies & the community-at-large
  • Special events that encourage fellowship among our local food allergy community
  • Educational presentations for local schools, churches, daycare facilities & community organizations
  • Advocates to support those affected by food allergies while working with local health professionals, schools, & community organizations​​

Kelley Barnett, MS, NCC
Founder & President

Kelley is a food allergy mom, managing multiple food allergies for the family, and serves on FAAM's Board of Directors. She and her husband, FAAM's co-founder, Billy, have a passion for learning to live well with food allergies and sharing that information with others to support their journeys. Kelley has professional experience in counseling in both community and school settings and is an adjunct professor at The University of Memphis in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research.

Heidi Rubin de la Borbolla
Secretary

Heidi is a food allergy parent and serves on FAAM's Board of Directors.

Katie Foster
Treasurer

Katie is mom to a toddler diagnosed with food allergies, as well as several airway defects. She and her husband, Kevin, understand the importance of having a strong community of support. Katie holds a BFA in Film, Video and Photographic Arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago.

Jay Lieberman, MD
Medical Advisor

Dr. Jay Lieberman, a Memphis native, completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas in Austin before returning home for medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Throughout his education, he developed a love of allergy and immunology and was awarded the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Student Research Grant allowing him to pursue immunology research at the University of California in San Francisco. After graduating from medical school, he completed residency in internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and followed this with a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He fostered his passion for research and education in the field by staying on for an extra year of fellowship, securing the AAAAI/Elliot and Roslyn Jaffe Third-Year Fellowship Food Allergy Research Award. Upon completion of his fellowship, he returned home to work at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, where he is an Assistant Professor. Dr. Lieberman’s interests are mainly in the fields of food allergy and eosinophilic esophagitis. In his short time at UTHSC, he has established a food allergy clinic, a multi-disciplinary eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease clinic, and was awarded the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Young Investigators award. He also serves as an associate editor for the Annals of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. Dr. Lieberman is a member of FAAM's Board of Directors.

Blair Mize, MS, RDN, LDN
Nutrition Advisor

Blair is a master’s level Registered Dietitian and owner of the Memphis Nutrition Group in Memphis, TN. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Mississippi where she also completed her dietetic internship and Master of Science in Food and Nutrition Services. As the mother of a child with multiple food allergies, Blair understands the challenges of serving safe foods in and outside the home, and she has an expansive knowledge of nutrition sciences, practical cooking, and sustainable health. Blair uses her personal and professional experience to counsel and support individuals and families on maintaining a balanced diet and optimal health while avoiding allergens. She believes in an approach to eating that promotes health and safe food choices but doesn't compromise the flavor or enjoyment of food. Brigid Kay, RDN, LDN
Nutrition Advisor

Brigid is a registered and licensed dietitian who specializes in nutrition for the entire family. As a wife and mother of three children, she feels blessed to be able to use that experience, along with her expertise in nutrition to help others in their journey to health. Her interests include family nutrition strategies, disordered eating, and the prevention of weight/diet cycling. She also helps assess the diets of children with food allergies and picky eating tendencies to ensure they are getting adequate and balanced nutrition. Being a mindful eater, as well as an intelligent intuitive eater is the core of her nutrition philosophy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi and completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. Brigid is co-owner of the Memphis Nutrition Group. In addition to doing in office consultations, she also provides valuable nutrition presentations in and around the Memphis area and facilitates The Body Project. Brigid is a certified group fitness instructor/ personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), and is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
