Review: Medical Alert Bracelets

July's highlight is a review of medical alert bracelets that I personally own. I needed a toddler-sized wristband, wanted the medical alert sign visible from an adult's height, and wanted one that a toddler could not remove. I also looked for one that could be worn all of the time without removing to swim. I decided on a Sticky J bracelet with an engraved plate. Later, I was gifted an Allerbling bracelet kit. I needed help with my Sticky J order and their customer service department was very nice and helpful. They guided me through their products to find the best fit for my needs. Allerbling is one of the nicest companies I have interacted with in a long time. I give two thumbs up to these companies for their passion.

Allerbling

Allerbling sells only their bracelet and charms. The full bracelet kit comes with a small wristband and a large wristband, so the child can grow into the next size or share with a sibling or friend, and a set of charms. The bracelet is very visible from an adult height and can be worn all of the time. You can purchase bracelets and charms separately to customize the bracelet to your allergies. I also like that they include less common allergy charms. The fit will depend on the wrist size, the small band moves around a little bit on a young toddler wrist but that has never bothered me. It is not easily removed by a toddler, and the charms cannot be easily removed. Allerbling's bracelet is meant for children ages 3 and up due to small parts.

Sticky J

Sticky J sells a lot of products, which was overwhelming at first. I ended up purchasing the train wristband bracelet with plate (TRJ1045), which can be worn in the water. I like that the medic alert symbol is on top and engraving on the bottom so no one can see personal information. I also like that the wristband is adjustable, like a watch wristband (see photo below). I wish the medic alert symbol was larger and more visible from an adult's height; it's not clear from a distance. An older toddler can remove the bracelet if they wanted but it fits snugly and does not slide around, which I like.

I called their wonderful customer service and they were happy to help me find a bracelet better suited to my needs. I was directed to their bracelet with interchangeable bands and an appropriate sized plate (AA1190 & CR1540). The bands are fabric, but dry fairly quickly. The fit is nice and snug, and the clasp is difficult for small fingers to open. I appreciate the larger engraving on the plate but know that removing the strap to read the other side takes time in an emergency situation. A toddler really likes making decisions, and choosing which band to wear is no exception. 

Both sites include dimensions of the products but I included a ruler in the above picture to give a point of reference. You can also see the different clasp types and materials. The companies are nice, products are great quality and prices are affordable. I chose to purchase a bracelet as a reminder to people when we are in public. I think I am asked about the Allerbling bracelet more often than the others, although we like all of them. I hope this review was helpful!
